Thank you for your interest and welcome to the English version of Fahrschule Cruise-Control.
We want to help you on your way to your German license. It is allowed to drive for six months after arriving in Germany without changing the license into the German license. After that time you have to go to the office and get everything fixed for the change if you want to go on driving legally. Because the office takes a little while (6-8weeks) for the documents it is better to organize that really early. First of all you need to know what you have to do to switch your license to the German license.
If your license is from another EU-country you donīt need to do anything. You can drive with your license here legally.
If your license is from a country that is listed in Anlage 11 of FeV (Fahrerlaubnisverordnung) you just need to bring a translation of your license, a copy of your original license, a passport-picture (35mm x 45mm), your passport (a copy of it is ok) and a document from the city-office where you live in Germany (Einwohnermeldebstätigung vom Einwohnermeldeamt oder Bürgerbüro). You don´t need an eye-test or an first-aid-class-certificate.
If your license is from a country that is not listed in Anlage 11 of FeV (Fahrerlaubnisverordnung) you need to get a translation of your license, a copy of your original license, an eye-test (not older than two years), a passport-picture (35mm x 45mm), a first-aid-class-certificate, your passport (a copy of it is ok) and a document from the city-office where you live in Germany (Einwohnermeldebstätigung vom Einwohnermeldeamt oder Bürgerbüro).
If you are registered in Germany more than three years you need to go to 14 lessons of theory and drive 12 special practical lessons (highway, night, country) with your instructor after your city lessons.
If you need any help for getting the documents fixed or if you have any other questions concerning your license feel free to call or email.
